What camera settings should I use for low light / motion shots with a baby?

I find using a flash is too severe when shooting pictures of our little girl inside. I have a digital SLR (Canon EOS) - Should I use Av or Tv - and aprature speed or should I try to use?

You can get a good image in the program by bouncing your flash to a ceiling or wall. Your device will choose the best aperture and shutter speed, and it will also adjust the AMOUT light that your flash will occur. To do this you need a flash that has an adjustable head and that will synchronize with your device. The EX-series Canon Speedlite is working well and are well worth the money spent. If the ceiling is too high to obtain a correct exposure, please attach a white 3x5 card to the back of your flash to help some bounce of light. Personally, I use my camera flash outdoors as fill light to help rid shadows caused by harsh sunlight. When I am inside, I never use direct flash, I always find someway to bounce the light to achieve a smoother and more lighting.
